Music is in our blood. Marijke is living proof of that. She began her musical journey at just seven years old with a private teacher. At the age of 15, Marijke started her formal music education and began building a personal approach which focuses on intuition and physical and sensory awareness.

At the age of 17, Marijke stunned the jury at her entrance exam to the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. Under the guidance of respected teachers such as Robert Steyaert and Jacques de Tiège, Marijke blossomed into a brilliant pianist. She graduated Magna Cum Laude under the supervision of Jean Brouwers. She also won the prizes Ella Ollin and Van Cutsem for best pianist of her year.

As a concert pianist, Marijke has performed with ensembles such as the Flemish Radio Orchestra, the Beethoven Academie and music theatre Transparant. As a piano duo with her partner Stefaan Poelmans, Marijke has performed in Belgium and abroad.

Marijke has worked as a piano pedagogue simultaneously at LUCA School of Arts - Lemmensinstituut and at Stedelijk Conservatorium (SLAC), Leuven. Those who have had the good fortune of working with Marijke know how passionate she is about helping young talent blossom. Marijke’s love for music is inspiring and contagious.
